Samantha vs. The Stomach Virus

Our first trip to the baby doctor revealed that we were only two weeks away from the end of the first trimester. Sam was particularly excited about this, as it meant there would be more room in her schedule now that continual vomiting was on the way out. As we hit the second trimester the doctor told Samantha to get a flu shot since pregnant women are in the high-risk category for catching the flu. On Thursday she got her shot at school and started to feel ill that afternoon. Thinking she was having a mild reaction to the shot, we made plans for her to get a sub for Friday and that's when the wheels fell off the wagon.
Our good friend, Explosive Barf, moved back in to the house.
Being the caring and sensitive husband I am, I told her to go sleep it off. The next morning I was so sure she would feel much better as the day went on I left for several hours to attend a live fantasy basketball draft. When I got back Sam and Explosive Barf had trashed the place and I began to suspect that something else might be going on. Don't even ask me about Explosive Barf's wife, Explosive Diarrhea. She was impossible to deal with.
We phoned the doctor on call and he told us as long as Sam was keeping fluids down, she was OK. Since that was not happening, he told us to come to the ER as soon as possible.
Once there they pushed us to the front of the line and we discovered that Explosive Barf had brought along his obnoxious cousin, Stomach Virus. Poor Samantha was so dehydrated she ran through two IV bags as fast as they could pump them into her. They also gave her a shot of something called Zofran which tricked her brain into thinking she was no longer nauseated. It took several days for us to kick Stomach Virus to the curb, but Sam and Baby were all good and life returned to normal. In all likelihood Samantha got the virus after meeting with this mysterious stranger:
